Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical services, with the ability to assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their needs. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care. The Optician will work closely with both patients and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal vision solutions. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and lifestyle needs. Conduct fittings and adjustments of eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and prescription details, while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care. Utilize EMR systems for managing patient information efficiently. Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, including contact lens hygiene. Perform basic laboratory tasks such as lens edging and finishing. Stay updated on the latest optical products and technologies to provide informed recommendations. Handle retail sales transactions accurately, including processing payments and managing inventory levels. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Experience with optical services and retail sales is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic is a plus. Ability to perform vital sign assessments when necessary. Understanding of medical billing, coding, and records management practices. Experience in pediatrics or senior care settings is beneficial but not required. Proficiency in aseptic techniques for maintaining a clean work environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing patient records and inventory.
