Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and personable optician to join our team in providing exceptional eye care services in Myrtle Beach. As a vital part of our team, you will be responsible for assisting patients with frame selection, lens options, and enhancements that meet their visual needs and lifestyle. You will also provide frame adjustments and repairs and troubleshoot issues with products. This position requires you to work collaboratively in a team environment with other optical and clinical staff, including optometrists. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities include:
Provide personalized eyewear consultations for frame selection and fit as well as lens options and enhancements Educate patients on their lens options, coatings, and enhancements so they are making the best decision to fit their needs and understand how their product works. Take measurements for frame and lens ordering, including pupillary distances and segment heights for various bifocal and progressive designs. Place orders for lenses and frames including accurately billing patients and/or their insurance for products and services. Manage frame inventory to ensure a well-stocked optical and stay up to date with advancements in lens options and technology. Occasionally assist with contact lens fittings and instructions. Read chart notes and carry out doctor's order to make certain patient care plans are completed. Collaborate with coworkers to maintain clinic efficiency.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Prior optical experience preferred Strong communication skills Computer/EHR literacy Ability to do basic math Adequate dexterity and hand-eye coordination for measurements, adjustments, and repairs Dependable and punctual Ability to lift light-to-moderate weight and stand, sit, bend, and kneel to accommodate patients and assist with inventory and stocking frame boards.
