This is an ideal role for someone who has strong optical experience, enjoys helping patients choose eyewear, and is willing to be cross-trained in multiple areas of the practice. The right candidate will primarily serve as an optician but may also assist with billing and coding support, insurance verification, optical ordering, lens lab work, patient communication, front desk support, pretesting, and general clinic workflow. We are especially looking for someone who can communicate confidently with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients and help create a welcoming, professional, and personalized patient experience. Viewpoint Vision Clinic offers the close-knit feel of a private office while continuing to grow and improve. Key Responsibilities Optical / Optician Duties Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescription, lifestyle, visual needs, face shape, personal style, and budget Educate patients on lens options, including progressive lenses, anti-reflective coatings, photochromic lenses, blue-light options, polarized lenses, and specialty lens designs Take accurate optical measurements, including PDs, seg heights, and other lens-specific measurements Adjust, repair, fit, and dispense eyewear Assist with frame board organization, merchandising, restocking, and presentation Help patients understand their vision benefits and out-of-pocket options Provide excellent customer service while supporting appropriate optical sales goals Billing, Coding & Insurance Support Verify vision and medical insurance benefits Assist with reviewing patient coverage, claim details, and billing information Help identify missing information, unpaid claims, denials, and patient balances Support accurate handoffs between clinical care, optical, front desk, and billing Communicate clearly and professionally with patients about benefits, balances, and payment responsibilities Ordering & Lens Lab Support Place and track lens, frame, and contact lens orders Verify order accuracy and follow up on delays, remakes, warranties, and lab issues Inspect completed eyewear for quality and accuracy Assist with lensometry and prescription verification Help with basic optical lab tasks, lens finishing, edging, mounting, or other lab-related work depending on experience Patient Care & Office Support Assist with patient check-in, check-out, scheduling, phones, and patient communication as needed Assist with pretesting and patient flow when appropriate Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Help keep the clinic clean, organized, and patient-ready Work closely with doctors, technicians, billing staff, and the optical team Be willing to cross-train in multiple areas to help the office run smoothly Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who is: Bilingual in English and Spanish Experienced in optical sales, eyewear dispensing, adjustments, and lens recommendations Comfortable discussing eyewear value, lens upgrades, insurance benefits, and patient costs Friendly, professional, and patient-focused Detail-oriented and organized A fast learner who can adapt to different responsibilities Able to multitask in a busy clinical environment Reliable, punctual, and accountable Positive, self-motivated, and willing to help wherever needed Interested in growing with a private optometry practice long term Preferred Qualifications At least 1 year of optician, optical sales, or optometric assistant experience preferred Bilingual English/Spanish required Optical sales experience strongly preferred Experience with vision insurance preferred Medical billing or coding experience is a plus Optical lab, lens finishing, edging, or lensometry experience is a plus Certified Paraoptometric, CPO, CPOA, CPOT, or ABO certification is a plus but not required Computer skills required Experience with EHR or practice management software is a plus Our Team Values Our team values define how we care for patients and how we work together: "Can Do" positive attitude Respect for patients and team members Eager to learn, grow, and improve professionally Self-motivated, hardworking, and accountable Why Join Us?
