Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team here at Eyecare Specialties Rockwall as an Optician, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care services and enhancing patient experiences. This energetic position combines technical expertise with compassionate customer service, ensuring patients receive accurate eyewear prescriptions and personalized optical solutions. As an integral part of our clinic, you'll utilize your knowledge of ophthalmology, medical terminology, and retail sales to support both clinical and retail operations. Your dedication will help improve vision health while fostering a welcoming environment for diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and senior care. We also Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear by understanding their needs, preferences, and lifestyle. Take precise measurements of pupillary distance, ocular health indicators, and vital signs to ensure proper fit and function of eyewear. Conduct basic eye examinations, including visual acuity tests and assessments of ocular physiology and anatomy. Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support laboratory processes by performing optical measurements, lens fitting, and verifying the quality of finished eyewear. Educate patients on lens options, medical terminology related to eye health, and proper care techniques. Manage retail sales operations by applying retail math skills, processing medical billing and coding accurately, and promoting optical products effectively. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health. Experience with laboratory procedures, optical equipment, aseptic techniques, and clinic workflows. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Acuity Logic or similar platforms for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient information at all times. Ability to communicate complex medical concepts clearly to pediatric patients, senior citizens, and their caregivers. Retail management skills including sales techniques, inventory management, retail math calculations, and customer service excellence.
