In this energetic position, you will assist patients in selecting eyewear, perform comprehensive eye measurements, and support clinical staff with optical and medical procedures. Your expertise will ensure patients receive personalized care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical skills with compassionate service in a fast-paced environment dedicated to improving lives through clear vision. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences, ensuring a positive customer experience. Take precise measurements of pupillary distance, frame fitting, and other optical parameters to ensure optimal lens placement and comfort. Support optometry and clinic staff with procedures involving medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology to facilitate accurate diagnoses and treatments. Maintain detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or EMR systems, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information. Manage retail sales operations by applying retail math skills, upselling products, and providing excellent customer service to boost patient satisfaction and store performance. Support billing processes by understanding medical coding, medical billing practices, and insurance documentation for accurate claims processing. Assist with vital signs measurement when necessary for comprehensive patient assessments in clinical settings. Qualifications Proven experience in optical environments or retail sales with a strong understanding of optical experience requirements. Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care. Ability to perform laboratory tasks related to lens ordering and quality assurance. Strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information at all times. Experience working within healthcare settings involving laboratory work, medical billing, or clinical procedures is highly desirable. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail or clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
