In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose vision problems, and recommend appropriate treatment plans to improve patients' ocular health and visual acuity. Your expertise will help enhance the quality of life for diverse patient populations through exceptional care, education, and personalized service. Responsibilities Conduct thorough eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and physiological function. Diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions, including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and pediatric eye issues. Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or treatments based on patient assessments, ensuring optimal visual outcomes. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of corrective devices to promote long-term ocular wellness. Collaborate with optical staff to recommend suitable eyewear options and assist in sales efforts when appropriate. Follow aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety and infection control standards are upheld. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health. Experience with optical equipment and understanding of optical prescriptions for diverse patient needs including pediatrics. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and medical coding purposes. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on customer service and effective communication. Ability to interpret vital signs and perform basic clinical assessments during examinations. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient information at all times.
