Optometrist County of Ventura Health Care Agency - 2.8 Ventura, CA Job Details Part-time $112.49 - $112.50 an hour 7 days ago Qualifications Pathology Optometry License Full Job Description Optometrist - Ventura, CA Join County of Ventura's Health Care Agency Ambulatory Care department and make a direct impact in our community by helping provide vision services to our patients. This position is in Ventura, California and is Part-Time. This is continuous recruitment and may close at any time; therefore, apply as soon as possible if you are interested.

About County of Ventura Ventura County is located on California's "Gold Coast," nestled between the cities of Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, and has a nearly perfect Mediterranean climate with an average annual temperature of 74 degrees. Examples of Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following: Provides complete, comprehensive, culturally sensitive Pediatric Optometry services for patients throughout the life cycle. This includes obtaining medical histories, performing examinations, making diagnoses, and treating patients. Provides visual examinations, including those conducted to identify the presence of pathology and refers to other specialists when appropriate. Provides treatment of the visual system within the scope of optometric licensure, including writing prescriptions for ophthalmic spectacles and contact lenses. Prescribes medication to treat ocular diseases and disorders. Ability to work with high volume of patients and internal/external customers. Follow workflows that support quality improvement efforts and increase patient access. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with patients and staff. Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with the public, patients, and other personnel. Keeps accurate and timely medical records and charts using Electronic Health Record (EHR) and adheres to documentation policies. Prepares various records such as progress notes, care plans, summaries, etc. Documents gathered information in medical record as required by policies. Responds to portal messages and EHR inbox in a timely fashion and provides coverage for colleagues' inboxes when they are not available. Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions as determined by Ambulatory Care administration. Follows safety protocols, including but not limited to infection control, patient identifiers and time-out procedures as appropriate. Keeps all medical staff credentialing requirements up to date, including CME requirements. Other duties as assigned Schedule 2-4 days a month from 8 am-5 pm Pay Half Day Rate $450 Requirements Graduate of a school or college of Optometry accredited by the California State Board of Optometry. California Certificate to use Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents. Current California license issued by the State Board of Optometry. A minimum of two years providing vision services as a licensed Optometrist. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and to apply the principles, theories, practices, and techniques of optometric practice, including anatomy, physiology, pathology and mechanics of the human eye, visual processes and detailed knowledge of ocular pharmacology and therapeutics.
