Responsibilities Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and overall eye function using advanced diagnostic tools. Diagnose and manage a variety of eye conditions, including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and pediatric ocular issues. Prescribe corrective lenses and coordinate with optical teams to ensure proper fitting and patient satisfaction. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options while fostering a welcoming environment that emphasizes excellent customer service. Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals on complex cases requiring specialized ophthalmology expertise. Stay current with advancements in optometry practices, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques to deliver top-tier patient care. Qualifications Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with certification to practice in the designated region. Proven experience in optical settings with strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles and physiology. Familiarity with medical coding systems relevant to optometry procedures for accurate billing and documentation. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems to efficiently manage patient records and vital signs documentation. Excellent customer service skills combined with sales aptitude to recommend appropriate eyewear solutions confidently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality and security of medical records. Ability to communicate complex medical terminology clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds.
