Compensation & Benefits Include:

The Opportunity:
Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Lead Optometrist to join our multidisciplinary care team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive eye and vision care services to a diverse patient population while supporting our mission to advance health equity and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to Boston's communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive eye exams, vision assessments, and treatment plans for patients of all ages Assess and manage acute and chronic eye conditions and eye-related injuries Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and vision disorders. Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, and treatment plans as appropriate. Coordinate care with primary care providers and specialty physicians. Refer patients to ophthalmologists and other specialists when necessary. Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical performance measures. Provide clinical leadership and guidance to optometrists, technicians, and support staff. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. Make referrals to ophthalmology and specialty services when clinically appropriate Ensure adequate staffing coverage and scheduling. Advance the Health Center's mission of providing equitable, high-quality care to underserved populations.
Qualifications:
Current Massachusetts Optometry License in good standing. Current DEA registration (if applicable). Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire. Strong knowledge of optometric practice standards and patient-centered care Experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills Comfort working with diverse patient populations in a fast-paced clinical environment Knowledge of computer systems and electronic medical records Join Our Team! $160,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
