Job Description
1.
Education:
Graduate of an approved Paramedic program. Current National Registry Paramedic certification and current Arkansas Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Paramedic certification, as demonstrated by renewal expiration dates. BLS required. ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification preferred. 2.Training and Experience:
One-year field experience preferred (after internship) as a paramedic in an advanced life support service. Experience within one year of application. 3.Job Knowledge:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret department policies, procedures and standards, technical reports, professional journals and regulatory regulations. Ability to effectively communicate concise information to the health care team and the public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, weight, height, and volume. Ability to collect data, establish facts, define problems, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data. 4.Safety Sensitive:

Provides assistance with the care for clients according to established standards and practices. Performs delegated tasks in accordance with physician s orders and under the direct supervision of either the physician or the RN responsible for emergency services in the emergency department. The Paramedic will not perform any procedures outside of the emergency department. In no event may a Paramedic perform a procedure on a patient in the ED that he or she is not certified to do by the office of EMS, Arkansas Department of Health, and governing board. Consideration is given in the provision of care for the age and developmental status of the patient.Physical Effort:
Performing the duties of this job requires prolonged, extensive or considerable standing and walking. The associate is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; bend, stoop, kneel or crouch; talk or hear and smell.
