Inter Facility Transport EMT 142 Sheppard Drive, Durango, CO 81303 $27.21 an hour - Full-time $27.21 an hour - Full-time
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follow, support and embody the Mission, Values and Department Expectations Actively participate on non-emergency ambulance transport assignments to local, regional and long-range patient destinations. Actively participate in emergency calls and medical standby requests at the level commensurate to the qualification/certification of the employee. Function within the scope of practice as defined by state, local and agency policy and protocols. Safely operate DFPD vehicles in non-emergency and emergency situations. Assist in maintaining emergency/non-emergency vehicles including inspecting, cleaning and servicing of equipment, tools, facilities, grounds. Request recommendations on needed repairs. Deficiencies reported to EMS Supervisor. Performs administrative duties including report writing, data storage and retrieval and maintaining open communication lines, both verbally and orally. Types of communication including receiving and relaying calls and alarms; radio transmissions, using pagers, using telephones and cellular phones and creating written communications. Participates in continuing education, drills and training exercises. Appropriately and promptly document all patient reports. This is done preferably right after the call is complete but should be done before leaving the shift unless permission is obtained from the EMS Supervisor. This includes all required paperwork being completed and signed. Maintain personal physical fitness as stated in the DFPD Wellness & Fitness policy. HIPAA KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of Emergency Medical Services and the care and transport of the sick and injured. Knowledge of DFPD district geography and boundaries. Knowledge of DFPD ambulances and medical equipment. Knowledge of DFPD rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to provide calm, professional, and compassionate care to patients for long periods of time. Skill in communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, officers, supervisor, other professionals and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction and form mutually beneficial networks.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) State of Colorado certified EMT-B valid State Driver's License CPR for the professional rescuer (or approved equivalent).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must pass and maintain a yearly DFPD Physician's physical Must comply with the organization's wellness and fitness policy Perform duties associated with treatment and transport of sick and injured persons. The primary role is to staff a non-emergency ambulance and provide professional, compassionate care during patient transport between facilities. The secondary role is to back up emergency crews and assist in providing emergency medical services within the DFPD response area.
