Base Pay:

POSITION SUBJECT TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
" This is responsible work involving the protection of life through the performance of emergency medical services, providing basic and advanced life support to patients. An employee in this class is responsible for working as an emergency medical team member.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Identifies and manages life threatening emergencies by initiating basic and advanced life support while following protocols and physician orders Initiates and assists Medical Staff in patient treatment to acutely ill or traumatized patients, utilizing both invasive and non-invasive techniques and initial protocol treatment based on patient condition, which may include implementing automated external defibrillator, performing basic airway management, positive pressure ventilation, cardiac resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and pharmacological therapy Establishes rapport with the patient and others to decrease incident stress by remaining calm and communicating medical conditions with patients and medical staff Prepares patient care reports, which involves documenting medical conditions and activities applied to patients. Records patient care data and information obtaining demographic data from patients, medical conditions and/or illnesses, and current prescription use as well as documents patient reactions to treatment Secures and disposes of biohazard waste Assess patient response to treatment Attends continuing education and other programs to maintain clinical knowledge and certification requirements Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as neededTYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of emergency medical coursework at the Paramedic level; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license from state of residence Valid Florida Paramedic Certification AHA CPR CertificationAHA ACLS
Certification Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs): Emergency medical practices and procedures Basic human anatomy and physiology Human disease and trauma principles Knowledge of county geography Incident command systems Applicable emergency vehicle equipment Emergency radio operation and communication codes Advanced life support principles Medical terminology Patient care protocols and procedures Using a computer and related software applications Operating medical equipment Writing clear and concise communication Maintaining patient airways Ensuring patients obtain adequate oxygen supply Ensuring patients have adequate heart function Operating an emergency vehicle in a safe manner Caring for patients Patient intubation Starting IVs Implementing basic and advanced life support Assessing patient situations Communication and interpersonal relations as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction Lift patients onto stretchers Establish routes for medications and fluids Maintain inventory Adapt to new and constantly changing situations and environments Remain calm in stressful and emotional situations Use tact and empathy in dealing with a variety of sick, injured, and/or emotionally upset Individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds Effectively communicate verbally and in writing Make accurate assessments of injuries or physical trauma Follow and understand protocols Maintain certification and training Maintain a good driving record Keep patient information confidentialSUPPLEMENTAL INFORMAITON

Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, finger dexterity, and repetitive motions. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, blood and other bodily fluids, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.Benefits/Compensation Package:
