Jobs › Pittsfield, MA › Physical REsponse Counselor/Advoca… Elizabeth Freeman Center, Inc Physical REsponse Counselor/Advocate Pittsfield, MA Apply Elizabeth Freeman Center seeks a passionate, responsible, and reliable physical response counselor/advocate to support people at the hospitals or police stations in the county after an assault and to provide support during emergency concerns at EFC?s emergency shelter or on hotline. Evening and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide physical response for sexual assault victims/survivors at Berkshire Medical Center, Berkshire North, and Fairview Hospital
  • Provide physical response for domestic or sexual assault victims/survivors at county police stations.
  • Provide back-up support to EFC shelter staff for emergency concerns at shelter or on EFC?s hotline.
  • Liaise with hospital staff and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) to help ensure clients? needs are met.
  • Connect victims/survivors to EFC services and ongoing support.
  • Maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with clients, use good judgment, and adhere to strict guidelines and protocols to ensure client confidentiality and security.
  • Complete all other duties to ensure that clients are provided with professional, empathetic, affirming services within the context of the agency?
s mission and consistent with grant requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to answer calls immediately in a confidential space and stay within range of clear and consistent cell phone service for the duration of each shift.
  • Must be able to respond to hospital or police station within 40 minutes.
  • Ability to keep calm in emergencies and exercise good judgement.
  • Good listening and empathetic skills
  • Personal and/or work experience in domestic violence, sexual violence, or trauma
  • Ability to keep excellent records and fulfill all reporting requirements.
  • Overnight and weekend availability a requirement
  • Commitment to social justice and anti-oppression work, and respect for cultural diversity
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs and lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check-CORI, be found appropriate to work with minors, have valid Massachusetts driver?
s license, safe driving record, and reliable transportation.
Work Hours:
Rotating shifts, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
Compensation and benefits:
Employees assigned on-call responsibilities will receive on-call pay at a daily rate of \$60-80, depending on day of the week. On-call pay will be prorated for partial-day assignments. Additional compensation is provided for certain holidays. Time spent actively responding to calls, including travel time and time performing work, is compensated for hours worked at an hourly rate of \$24. This is a part-time, nonexempt position. Weekend back-up coverage opportunities are also available.

Physical Response Coordinator with back-up by Manager on Duty.
