Job Description

Back Paramedic (Days) St. Dominic Hospital Jackson, MS, United States May 05, 2026 Technician Job Description The Paramedic performs specific functions as defined by approved medical protocols under the direction of the attending ED physician and assists the nursing staff in care of the patient in the Emergency Department. The Paramedic reports directly to the ED Nursing Director and has general oversight from the ED Medical Director. The position relies on education and training to complete responsibilities within the scope of practice as a licensed Paramedic.
Job Function:
Clinical Practice:
This will have been satisfactorily performed when� Approved patient treatments and procedures are performed under the supervision of the physician in a professional and caring manner and consistent with department procedures; such duties may include defibrillation, CPR, peripheral venous access including internal jugular, basic EKG interpretation, etc. Admissions process is completed by greeting patient and family, orienting patients to their environment, taking patient vital signs, and completed necessary patient documentation as required upon patient assignment. Trauma and injury assistance is provided as directed including but not limited to cervical spinal mobilization, eye irrigation, splints, spinal immobilization, traction splints, wound care, etc. Airway management is conducted as directed to include but not limited to bag valve-mask, nasopharyngeal airway insertion, open and maintain airways and oral suctioning, oral/nasal intubation, oxygen administration, suctioning, etc. Patients are transported, ensuring the safety of the patient, patient identification, use of bed rails, and attachment of the transport defibrillator monitor. Phlebotomy is performed for assigned patients utilizing proper patient identification and labeling as evidenced by the lack of mislabeled specimens. All patient care activities are accurately documented per documentation standards; Assistance is provided to the healthcare team with the documentation process as needed.
Communication and Collaboration:
This will have been satisfactorily performed when� Communication/collaboration with the health care team members, patients and families is consistently provided to maximize patient outcomes at all times. Active participation is made in the Stroke and Stemi teams as demonstrated by immediate response and appropriate actions taken in the care of the patient. Communications with patient and family members are conducted as required in performing duties effectively.
Quality:
This will have been satisfactorily performed when� Regulatory and TJC audits are completed, and documentation submitted as assigned, to include environment of care rounds, peer competency assessments, etc. Other Duties as
