POSITION SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for providing medical assistance to patients upon scene arrival and en route to the hospital while working with another Emergency Care Provider. Responsiblities also include assisting with patient care in the Emergency Department and inpatient/TCU unit which include but are not limited to the essential duties and responsibilities listed below.

Required Credentials:
- Current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification
- EMT-B (requires 110 hours of training)
Preferred:
- AEMT requires 200-400 hours of training
- National Registry of Emergency Technicians (NREMT) preferred
- Previous EMT experience in rural community preferred
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide exceptional service and care to all patients, customers and team members. 2. Help to resuscitate patients in an emergency before hospital admission 3. Provide medical assistance during emergency situations, such as CPR, AED, prevent shock, control severe bleeding, prevent spinal damage, etc. 4. Administration of oxygen, airway management, etc. within scope of practice 5. Evaluate a patient's condition in order to determine the right course of treatment 6. Monitor and treat a patient's condition while en route to the hospital 7. Aid in the transfer of patients to the emergency units of hospitals 8. Provides leadership onscene contributing to a controlled and calm environment 9. Create a patient care report and take notes of the medical treatment given to the patient 10. Keep the equipment clean after use; check and replace damaged and used supplies 11. Decontaminate the interior of the ambulance if it is used to transport a patient suffering from a contagious disease 12. Assist with the preparation of a variety of reports and documents 13. Attend meetings as requested by administration 14. Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. 15. Follows policies and procedures; reporting needed changes 16. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed 17. Operates emergency vehicles safely under emergency and nonemergency situations 18. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide exceptional service and care to all patients, customers and team members. 2. Help to resuscitate patients in an emergency before hospital admission 3. Provide medical care during emergency situations, such as CPR, defibrillation, placement of advanced airways, treatment of shock, control of severe bleeding, prevention of spinal damage, etc. 4. Administer intravenous medications, drips, and oxygen 5. Patient evaluation and treatment 6. Evaluate, treat and monitor patient's condition according to protocols and current standards of care 7. Transfer patients between hospitals 8. Reassure those involved in an emergency including family and bystanders 9. Complete patient care reports and take notes of medical treatment given to patients in a timely manner 10. Clean ambulance, cot & equipment after use; check and replace damaged and used supplies 11. Decontaminate the interior of the ambulance if used to transport a patient suspected to be suffering from a contagious disease 12. Assist with patient care and other needs as directed by the charge nurse for the Emergency Department and inpatient unit 13. Assist with restocking supplies in the Emergency Department and Inpatient areas 14. Assist with registering patients 15. Attend meetings as requested by administration 16. Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information. 17. Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes 18. Contributes to a positive team culture 19. Operates emergency vehicles (must be licensed and insurable) 20. Perform other related duties as assigned
