Summary:

The Paramedic is responsible for the delivery of high-quality pre-hospital and interfacility patient care during medical transports. This position functions within an interfacility transfer service and provides assessment, treatment, monitoring, and safe transport of patients requiring ALS-level care between healthcare facilities. The Paramedic practices in accordance with Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) EMS regulations, established clinical protocols, medical direction, and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including CMS Conditions of Participation, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care during transport.

Responsibilities:

Performs comprehensive patient assessments, including primary and secondary surveys, vital signs, and ongoing reassessment throughout transport Provides advanced life support care consistent with scope of practice, including airway management, cardiac monitoring, IV/IO access, medication administration, ventilator management, and advanced cardiac life support interventions Performs supportive tasks related to patient care Safely transports patients between healthcare facilities while ensuring patient comfort, dignity, safety, and continuity of care Communicates effectively with sending and receiving facility staff, dispatch, medical control, and other members of the healthcare team Operates, inspects, and maintains ALS equipment, including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and medication delivery systems Accurately completes electronic patient care reports (ePCRs) and related documentation in compliance with CMS medical necessity, billing, and record retention standards Ensures compliance with all clinical protocols, infection control procedures, safety policies, and regulatory requirements Maintains ambulance readiness, including equipment checks, restocking of supplies, and reporting of mechanical or equipment deficiencies Assists in maintaining a maintenance file for repairs on all department vehicles Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement (QA/PI) activities, continuing education, refresher training, skills verification, and required training programs by employer, medical direction and licensing agencies Functions as the ALS team leader during transport and provide clinical direction to EMT partners as appropriate Safely loads, secures, transports, and unloads patients using approved equipment and techniques Communicates clearly with patients, families, facility staff, dispatch, and partners Maintains ambulance cleanliness, ALS equipment readiness, and supply inventory Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of data and information Provides pre-hospital emergency care as needed per OSDH Mutual Aide Assists in coordination of training and in-services to tribal members and the public as needed Adheres to accepted policy and standards of the facility and other regulatory agencies Coordinates all transports with EMS manager Assists EMS manager in the planning, development, operations and the administration of the ambulance service Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment Maintains and promotes professionalism Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area Performs all other duties as assigned
