Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
Mobile Crisis & Community Stabilization Services Location:
Fredericksburg & Charlottesville, VA Schedule:
Evening shifts and weekend shifts available
Compensation:
Paid while sitting on-site and during active crisis response Behavioral Health Services of Virginia (BHSVA) is hiring dedicated and mission-driven Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) to join our Mobile Crisis and Community Stabilization team serving the Fredericksburg and Charlottesville areas. This is a field-based role providing urgent behavioral health support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Referrals may come through 988, hospitals, law enforcement, community partners, or other crisis referral sources.
Position Details:
QMHPs will report to the designated BHSVA office or assigned on-site location at the beginning and end of each shift. You will be paid while on-site waiting for dispatch and during all active crisis responses. Company vehicles are provided for Mobile Crisis responses when applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to crisis calls once dispatched, working alongside a paired clinician, nurse, or approved crisis team member. Provide face-to-face crisis intervention, support, and safety planning in the community. Assist with risk assessments and stabilization support under clinical guidance. Deliver Community Stabilization services as follow-up or step-down support after a crisis episode. Help clients manage mental health symptoms, reduce risk, and work toward short-term stabilization goals. Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation for all services provided. Coordinate with supervisors, clinical staff, medical staff, referral sources, and community partners to support safe transitions of care. Attend required weekly clinical supervision meetings.
Qualifications:
Must be registered as a QMHP-Trainee or QMHP with the Virginia Board of Counseling. Must have Mobile Crisis Training Certification . Experience with crisis response, case management, community-based mental health, IIH, MHSS, or stabilization services is preferred. Ability to work independently and remain calm in high-stress situations. Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required when not using an agency vehicle.
