Job Description

Position Summary The Radiology Patient Navigator supports patients in an outpatient imaging center by coordinating care across a range of diagnostic services, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience from scheduling through follow-up. This role is essential in promoting timely access, reducing barriers to care, and enhancing patient satisfaction in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, responsive, and patient-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities Care Coordination & Navigation Coordinate and schedule outpatient imaging services. Verify orders, ensure completeness of referrals, and obtain prior authorizations as needed. Guide patients through pre-appointment preparation, arrival expectations, and post-procedure next steps. Monitor imaging workflows to ensure timely scheduling and follow-up on results. Patient Support & Education Provide clear, culturally competent education on imaging procedures, preparation instructions, and what to expect during visits. Address patient questions, concerns, and barriers to care, including transportation or financial challenges. Deliver a high level of customer service to support a positive outpatient experience. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Documentation & Reporting Accurately document patient interactions, scheduling activities, and follow-ups in PACS and electronic health record systems. Track patient status, no-shows, reschedules, and completion rates to support operational efficiency and quality improvement. Collaboration & Operations Partner closely with radiologic technologists, front office staff, and referring provider offices to ensure smooth daily operations. Communicate proactively with referring providers regarding scheduling, documentation needs, and report delivery. Support workflow optimization efforts to improve patient throughput and reduce wait times. Qualifications Experience in patient coordination, medical scheduling, radiology operations, or a related outpatient healthcare role preferred. Familiarity with imaging services, prior authorization processes, and outpatient workflows. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in a high-volume setting. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Bilingual skills required.
