PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Clinical Advocate is responsible for the following functions: Providing support for children and families transitioning between levels of care (eg: stepping down from residential to foster care, stepping down from hospitalization to residential or foster care). Provide services to high-risk children and families with the goal of facilitating and/or maintaining placement in a stable environment that optimizes their mental health, growth, and development. Maintain a small caseload of clients (individual, family, group, etc.). Provide consultation, training, and/or support for high acuity cases in foster care and residential programs. Participate in additional programs and services within the agency to provide feedback/advocacy/support regarding the clients' needs or foster parents' needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in social work, counseling, or associated field. Previous experience in a child welfare agency preferred. Previous experience providing trauma-informed clinical care to youth and families preferred. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and ability to work effectively with children, parents, staff, school personnel, oversight agencies, and the public. Must be able and willing to do home visits in nearby and surrounding communities. Must be willing to work flexible hours and be available for emergencies. Must have valid Illinoisdriver's license and access to a car that can be used for services to clients. Sensitivity and responsiveness to the cultural differences in the staff and client populations.
