Position Summary The Insurance Verification & Patient A/R Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits, obtaining and tracking authorizations, reviewing patient account balances, and assisting patients with insurance and billing-related questions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate patient information, timely reimbursement, and an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance benefits and determine patient financial responsibility. Obtain, track, and document insurance authorizations for services. Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and referring providers regarding authorization requirements. Review patient accounts and outstanding balances. Contact patients regarding past-due balances, missing insurance information, or authorization issues. Assist patients in understanding insurance benefits, billing statements, and payment responsibilities. Identify and resolve account discrepancies or escalate issues as appropriate. Maintain accurate patient and insurance information within the practice management system. Collaborate with billing staff to ensure timely resolution of insurance and patient account issues. Perform additional billing and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical office, insurance verification, or patient accounts receivable experience preferred. Knowledge of medical billing, insurance plans, and authorization processes preferred. Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
