North Texas Oral Surgery Cedar Hill Office - North Texas Oral Surgery 618 North Highway 67 Cedar Hill, TX 75104 Patient Account Advocate Revenue Cycle Management Department Position Summary The Patient Account Advocate serves as a liaison between patients, insurance carriers, and the practice to ensure accurate account resolution, outstanding customer service, and timely reimbursement. This role is responsible for assisting patients with account questions, insurance explanations, payment arrangements, and account follow-up while supporting the overall goals of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) department. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to communicate professionally with patients and team members while maintaining confidentiality and compliance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Support & Account Resolution Serve as a primary point of contact for patient billing and account inquiries Assist patients in understanding treatment balances, insurance payments, estimates, and financial responsibilities Resolve patient concerns regarding billing discrepancies in a timely and professional manner Educate patients regarding insurance benefits, payment policies, and financing options Establish and monitor payment arrangements as appropriate Insurance & Revenue Cycle Support Review patient accounts for insurance accuracy and claim status Work closely with insurance companies to resolve denied, delayed, or underpaid claims Research and correct billing issues to support accurate reimbursement Assist with account follow-up and collections while maintaining a positive patient experience Document all account activity thoroughly and accurately within practice management systems Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate patient account records and documentation Collaborate with front office, clinical teams, and management to resolve account concerns Support department reporting and workflow initiatives as assigned Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all company policies and procedures Assist with special projects and additional revenue cycle responsibilities as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical or dental billing, collections, customer service, or revenue cycle management preferred Knowledge of insurance verification, EOBs, claims processing, and patient account management preferred Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude Proficiency with practice management software and Microsoft Office applications Key Skills Patient communication Insurance follow-up Account resolution Revenue cycle knowledge Organization and time management Attention to detail Professionalism and confidentiality Team collaboration Ability to multitask Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in person Ability to occasionally lift office materials up to 15 pounds Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment and requires frequent interaction with patients, insurance carriers, and internal team members.
