Food Handler Certification Full Job Description Redstone Recovery Specialist II Schedule:
Full-Time The Redstone Recovery Specialist II (RRS II) provides non-clinical, peer-based recovery support to individuals in detoxification and early recovery within an inpatient hospital setting. Using lived experience, this role engages patients during withdrawal stabilization, promotes hope, and supports discharge and transition planning. As an advanced-level position, the RRS II delivers patient-centered care while serving as a key resource to the interdisciplinary team, demonstrating competency in patient engagement, non-clinical crisis support, and care coordination. The role also includes mentoring peers, supporting workflow efficiency, and promoting program consistency through day-to-day operational leadership. This position requires advanced knowledge of recovery principles, strong judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex patient interactions in accordance with Texas state guidelines and under appropriate clinical supervision. Productivity Bonuses Key Responsibilities:
Engage patients upon admission and throughout detox to build rapport and trust Provide education on recovery principles, relapse prevention, and stages of change Share coping strategies for cravings, triggers, and post-detox challenges Reinforce the importance of continuing care after discharge Collaborate with the treatment team to support discharge planning Assist with scheduling or linkage to follow-up appointments when appropriate Act as a liaison between patients and the clinical team while maintaining peer role boundaries Document peer support services in accordance with hospital policy and Texas Medicaid guidelines Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Recovery Peer Support Specialist (RSPS) or equivalent required. Ability to obtain RSPS within 6 months of hire date.
Food Handler Certification Experience:
Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders preferred Working knowledge of behavioral health conditions and addiction recovery principles Experience in detox, inpatient, or crisis stabilization settings Demonstrated ability to manage high-stress and emotionally complex situations Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Ability to apply basic behavioral health and recovery support techniques Proficiency in basic computer applications (Email, Microsoft Word, Excel)
