Job Description

Patient Advocate Purpose:
The purpose is to ensure that we have happy patients who are committed to our practice and their treatment plan, who would gladly come back if care is needed, refer friends and family members to us for their physical therapy needs and pay for their care in full. It is critical to the purpose of the practice. The patient representative is responsible for working patients through the barriers to completing therapy, especially financial barriers. Good clear communication regarding expectations and finances is important to ensure patients do not have surprises that could upset them and cause them to discontinue their care. Gaining commitment and compliance, referrals and reviews, as well as payment for services from our patients is vital to ensuring we remain viable as a company and continue to grow. This is a Full-time 40 Hour per week position.

Patients who are fully aware of the expectations for their care Patients who are fully aware of their insurance benefits and cost of care Patients who pay for their care as agreed Patients who are compliant with and complete their plan of care Handled patient upsets and concerns Patient referrals Patient Success Stories Google and Facebook Reviews Reactivated fallen off patients Returning past patients Precise tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the job Sending Welcome Packets and letters to all new patients Preparing Financial Notification papers for all new patients Meeting with all new patients to discuss their insurance benefits Answering any questions a patient may have in regards to their benefits Discussing the attendance expectations and cancellation policy with all new patients Setting up pre-payment agreements or a payment plan for all patients Track and run pre-payments and payment plans Helping patients complete the financial hardship paperwork if needed. Checking in with patients throughout their care to see how they are doing Tracking and monitoring Limber test and survey results, then notify therapists if there is a concern Working with therapists and front desks to track and maintain patient compliance Survey patients throughout their care to monitor for quality concerns Listen to and handle patient complaints Reaching out to noncompliant and fallen off patients to reactivate them as patients Discharge surveys and meetings with discharging patients. Asking for referrals from patients Asking for Google and Facebook reviews from patients Discharge patient follow-up and correspondence Past patient reach outs - letters, postcards, texts, and calls Will also be cross-trained to handle the front desk duties Other duties as assigned Required education, technical and/or administrative competencies and experience Clearly speak, read and write English Ability to do moderate level algebra problems Understanding of health insurance Ability to observe and correct problem areas quickly Handle difficult situations/Conflict resolution Punctuality Professionalism Time management Communication Active listening Sensitivity to patients needs Confidentiality Money handling skills Knowledge of Microsoft office programs primarily Excel and Word Knowledge in use of G-suites primarily g-mail, docs, drive, and hang-outs Basic use of computers and other technology Associates degree in healthcare administration, business or similar field preferred At least 1 year of medical office experience preferred Ability to speak and read Spanish a plus Required personality and characteristics Enthusiastic "Make things go right" attitude Flexible Problem solver An effort to become part of the team Team player Welcomes change Eager to learn and grow Punctuality Positive attitude
