Job Description

General Position Summary:
In collaboration with the technologist, the Technologist Assist will contribute to the expedient care of the patient and the overall workflow of the department. Responsible for providing safe, emotionally supportive, and direct individualized care for patients under the direction of the licensed technologist, RN, and radiologist. Essential Functions /
Major Responsibilities:
Provides patient care as applicable and within scope to the CT/MRI department, including obtaining patient history, IV starts, hygiene as necessary, assisting the technologist in transportation, moving, and positioning the patient (positioning never to occur independently of technologist), toileting, linen changes, ambulation, obtaining, processing, and reporting labs utilizing the iStat, replacement of telemetry leads as needed Maintain constant patient flow throughout assigned area Stocking and cleaning of room when needed Proactively checks outpatient schedule ahead of time, notifying technologist of any order issues. Ensures compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures. Assists technologists in other duties as asked within scope Documents patient care as appropriate in EHR Communicates information from patient and nursing staff to technologist. Participates in educational offerings staff meetings, and other departmental/association wide meetings. Displays professional behaviors that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards. Job Scope:

Are normally made within the hospital. Are usually made with own department, staff, and supervisor. Contain some discussion about confidential/sensitive matters. Are face-to-face with some telephone contact. Are usually with patients, with some physician contact.
Specific Job Skills & Mental Activities:
This position requires the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience to perform in a diversified clinical care setting. This position requires knowledge of hospital equipment and programs, including all Hospital Information Systems and department specific equipment. This position requires basic computer, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (required) IV Certification required within 90 days of hire Ultrasound IV Certification required within 6 months of hire date BLS/CPR required within 30 days of hire date Basic computer skills (required)
Physical Demands & Job Conditions:
Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 15 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, and extensive computer work. Physical motions include finger dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, talking, reaching, feeling, sitting, bending, kneeling, grasping, listening/hearing, handling, lifting up to 100 pounds, and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet. This is a safety sensitive position.
OSHA Exposure Category:
