Job Summary and Qualifications Participate in the unit based Quality Improvement process. Patient transporters are required to operate and maintain (cleanliness/safety) various types of patient transport systems (beds, specialty chairs, stretchers, and wheelchairs) along with their associated support equipment (e.g., oxygen tanks and regulators, IVs with poles, pumps, bed inflation units, and tubes) Prepares schedules for assigned staff and manages daily workflow of operations. Participates in team interviews with candidates for positions in assignment area. Provides input for performance appraisals of assigned team members to the Manager and/or Director. Assists with implementation of policies and procedures to meet the various accrediting agencies' regulations and laws. Practices, develops, and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers. Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education, training, and competency assessments. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. Other duties as assigned to include standard duties of Patient Transporter.
