9 Req #: 47686 Apply Now Save Job Saved Patient Equipment Transporter Position Summary Responsible for safely transporting patients and equipment throughout all service areas of the hospital. Physically transfers patients of all levels, including high acuity, at nurse discretion and/or request, with proper mode of transport at time requested. Delivers, picks up, organizes, stores, cleans and maintains equipment used in patient transport and patient care. Provides excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff. Responsibilities
  • Physically transfers patients from bed to gurney or wheelchair utilizing proper lift assist techniques and equipment; moving associated lines and drains with patient to ensure no patient harm
  • Promptly responds to patient fall alerts, safely lifting patient from floor to appropriate equipment
  • Supports the bed management process, including discussion of patient needs with nursing staff to arrange proper bed/rental, delivering and setting up the bed, and transporting patient into bed with proper settings for specific patient needs
  • Manages rental equipment, delivering, tracking and transporting throughout hospital
  • Manages clean equipment rooms on nursing units using the "5S" process to ensure availability and accessibility of equipment used for patient care
  • Retrieves soiled equipment used for patient care from nursing units, returning to the station to clean, disinfect, inspect, replace missing necessary parts and store in appropriate area; equipment includes carts, racks, hooks, power supplied areas
  • Assists clinical engineering by ensuring the annual preventative maintenance is current on equipment, removing damaged equipment from service, delivering for repair, and returning to service when complete
  • Communicates effectively with clinical staff, patients and co-workers
  • Maintains, services, and stocks portable oxygen throughout the hospital daily for each unit, communicating with vendor as needed to ensure availability to alternate empty and full tanks
  • Assists infection prevention to maintain a safe environment at all times
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferred
  • BLS required
  • MOAB Certification during General Orientation Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
  • Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation
  • Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
  • Must be able to maintain a standing position
  • Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
  • Typical equipment used in a facilities job
