Job Overview Job Title:
Admissions Transporter Position Summary The Admissions Transporter provides safe, timely, and courteous transportation for patients throughout the healthcare facility. This role supports the admissions process by assisting newly admitted patients, transporting them to assigned units, and ensuring patient comfort and safety during transit. Key Responsibilities Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed to designated departments and patient rooms. Assist with admitting patients and escorting visitors as needed. Verify patient identity before transportation according to hospital procedures. Maintain patient safety, comfort, and dignity during transport. Communicate effectively with nursing staff, admissions personnel, and other healthcare team members. Transport medical equipment, supplies, specimens, or documents when required. Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA/privacy regulations. Report equipment malfunctions or patient concerns to appropriate staff. Maintain cleanliness and readiness of wheelchairs, stretchers, and transport equipment. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous healthcare, patient transport, customer service, or hospital experience is beneficial but often not required. Ability to push, pull, and lift patients and equipment safely. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of patient safety procedures. CPR certification may be required by some employers.
