Job Description

The position is Monday through Friday, 930a-6p. This includes rotating holidays with no call and no weekends. Work Shift Day Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Summary This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by safely transporting patients to and from a nursing floor to radiology or another ancillary department. Will work as a team to meet the needs of the business, hospital and department. Job Description Job Duties Ensure that all accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families and co-workers at hand offs and other times as needed. Take all measures necessary to ensure that the appropriate and involved parties have communicated necessary information in order to allow for the best possible patient outcome. Transport patients for the Radiology Department as well as for Ancillary departments to and from the nursing floor for procedures. Picks up laundry throughout Radiology department and restocks linens. Maintains cleanliness of transportation equipment. Performs patient tracking workflow processes Utilizes and follows proper Isolation Practices Oversees training of students during Transport rotation Works as a team to meet the needs of the business and helps in the department as needed. Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Safe body mechanics to help prevent injury. Good communication skills. Must possess critical thinking skills and have a perception of what the patient needs. Professional Experience Previous work or training in medical setting preferred. Education High School Diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. Relevant experience to be considered in lieu of diploma. Licensure, Certification, Registration Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
