Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Transporter to join our team in Southampton, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting residents to and from medical appointments, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety during transit. You will also assist with various resident care tasks as needed and provide clerical and floor support to the nursing department when there are no scheduled appointments. No prior CNA or medical certification is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities Patient Transport:
Safely transport ambulatory and wheelchair-bound residents to and from medical appointments, ensuring they are properly secured, comfortable, and attended to during the trip.
Appointment Scheduling:
Manage and review appointment schedules to ensure there is no overlapping of appointments.
Resident Assistance:
Assist residents with mobility, positioning, and ensuring they are appropriately dressed and groomed for doctor visits and outings.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow established safety protocols and infection control procedures at all times during transport. Observe resident conditions and promptly report any concerns or changes to medical staff. Collaboration with
Nursing Department:
On days or times with no scheduled appointments, you will be assigned tasks by the Nursing Department to support the floor and assist team members.
Documentation:
Keep accurate, timely records of transportation schedules and ensure all required documentation is entered into the medical record/electronic charting system. Qualifications Valid Driver's License in good standing with a clean driving record. No certification required (CNA/Medical certification is not mandatory). Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and medical staff. Compassionate, patient-focused, and professional demeanor. High level of reliability and adaptability to changing daily tasks. Previous experience in long-term care or patient transport is preferred but not mandatory. Physical Requirements Ability to assist with resident transfers, lifting, and guiding wheelchairs. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods of time. Additional Information Candidates must be highly dependable and punctual given the early morning start time ( 4:45 AM ). Flexibility is required to take on various supportive duties within the facility when transport needs are light.
