Full-time position Monday-Thursday 9pm-7am
JOB SUMMARY
Transports patients to and from the Radiology Department. Utilizes appropriate mode of transportation for condition of the patient. Assists technologists as needed with procedures. Assists with patient transfers. Screens, educates, and prepares patients for procedures. Assists patients with questionnaires and positioning. Assists with oral and IV contrast preparation. Prepares exam room and equipment for procedures. Cleans and stocks room. Assists with inventory and ordering. Assists with exam documentation. Keeps patient and family members up to date on exam progress. Performs vital signs when needed. Assists technologists with turning in exams to radiologists and teleradiology.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Must be self-motivated, compassionate, and work well with people. Previous experience as a radiology aide or in a similar hospital setting helpful. Knowledge of proper body mechanics when lifting and moving patients. Demonstrates competency in the transportation of patients reflecting appropriate patient care and knowledge of transport skills for patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. Demonstrates basic first aid procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Maintains patient confidentiality. Current BLS card or completion of course within 30 days of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to frequently lift up to 60 pounds. The ability to talk, hear, and see is required to communicate and care for patients and their families. Stooping, kneeling, and reaching required when caring for patients. Considerable walking and standing. Manual dexterity needed to enter data into computer and perform vital signs. Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections. Adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare reports and read written materials.
