Job Description

Position Summary:
The ED Transporter is responsible for providing and supporting patient care and an exceptional patient experience in the ED.
Education, License & Cert:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Previous customer/patient relations experience preferred Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Essential Functions:
1. Assists patients as needed (e.g., ambulation, bed pans, comfort measures): Transports patients into and out of the ED including assisting patients from private vehicles, moving patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed; performs 1:1 suicide watch as requested; responds to call bells; performs the sitter role as requested. 2. Measures and documents vital signs accurately and timely. 3. Present in the ED waiting area providing support and information to patients and families awaiting care or test results. 4. Keeps Nurse First or Charge Nurse aware of patient or family changes or increased anxieties. Alerts RN to any patients expressing the desire or demonstrating behaviors concerning for leaving without being seen. 5. Performs EKGs as ordered by the provider or per Nursing protocol orders. 6. Performs hourly rounding in conjunction with the ED RN; documents same in the EHR. 7. Identifies needed repairs to equipment or department and submits work orders for same. 8. Stocks and organizes ED supplies and equipment including dietary supplies.
Other Duties:
1. Performs clerical tasks and duties as assigned 2. Other duties to support departmental operations as assigned 3. Participates in ED staff meetings and ED shared governance. #LI-AC1
