Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Adhere to Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center 2. Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers 3. Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties 4. Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence with the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive workplace and customer environments 5. Work as a team to continuously improve work quality 6. Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on in-patients Summary of Other Job Duties and Expectations 1. Must be competent and knowledgeable in regards to the needs and concerns of individuals in various age groups. 2. Must demonstrate competence in handling patients from all age groups (pediatrics to geriatrics) 3. Document and alert the Operations Manager of the malfunction of various types of medical equipment used in the performance of job duties 4. Make recommendations to the Operations Manager as to additional transport, IV poles, and oxygen equipment needed to operate the department 5. Make recommendation to nursing staff on how to use proper transport modes for patients 6. Recognize emergency situations and initiate code procedures and CPR if necessary 7. Assure proper handling of patient's IV and other medical devices during transport 8. Notify nursing units when leaving and returning with patients and utilizes nursing unit transport logs accurately 9. Assist in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and radiographic tables, utilizing safety procedures and correct body mechanics 10. Clean and initiate repairs as necessary on all transport equipment 11. Fill oxygen tanks as needed and check oxygen regulators for proper operations prior to use 12. Utilize proper isolation techniques according to Hospital policy 13. Perform quality assurance testing on x-ray film processors each day and review results with Diagnostic section supervisor Initials _______ 14. Prepare and perform duplication and subtraction of x-ray film studies on emergent and routine bases 15. Utilize Radiology Information System (computer system) to accurately perform all functions assigned 16. Utilize the Hospital Information System (HIS) to research and order radiology and laboratory examinations 17. Utilize department transport log consistently and accurately 18. Assist technologist in the performance of x-ray examinations 19. Sort and organize radiology exams to include CT/MRI studies 20. Take radiology exams to the radiologist for wet readings and call the report to nursing units, physicians, and physicians offices 21. Must be proficient at relaying clinical information quickly and accurately to other medical personnel inside and outside the hospital 22. Assist patients to and from stretchers, wheelchairs, and radiology equipment to include CT/MRI scanner 23. Review patient's chart and verify physician's orders prior to patient transport to the department 24. Attend in-services, hospital-wide orientations, and other meetings as required 25. Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor 26. Rotate calls as needed 27. Present self in a positive manner, as reflected by personal attire and etiquette 28. Demonstrate a commitment to flexible scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care 29. May be crossed trained as needed 30. Perform other duties as assigned
