Part-Time (with pathway to Full-Time) About ProActive Strength Training ProActive Strength Training is a private, boutique strength coaching studio built on the principle that exceptional results require individualized programming, advanced coaching knowledge, and a high standard of care. We specialize in 1:1 and semi-private coaching (up to 3:1), working with clients who value long-term health, performance, and personalized attention. Our approach is rooted in biomechanics, physiology, and structured program design. Our environment is intentionally different from high-volume gyms. We prioritize quality over quantity, long-term relationships over quick turnover, and measurable outcomes over generic programming. We also collaborate with a network of healthcare professionals including chiropractors, physical therapists, and other specialists to support our clients holistically. The Opportunity We are looking for a Strength Coach or Personal Trainer who is committed to developing their craft and delivering a high-quality coaching experience. This role starts as a part-time position , with a clear pathway to full-time as your schedule and client base grow. This is not a "rent space and figure it out yourself" environment. You will be supported in building your schedule and developing into a high-level coach within our system. What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days In your first 90 days, you can expect: A structured onboarding process to learn our coaching systems, programming approach, and client standards Ongoing mentorship and training to develop your technical coaching and communication skills Gradual introduction to clients, including opportunities to support or take over existing sessions Hands-on experience using our systems for scheduling, programming, and session delivery Clear expectations and regular feedback to help you grow and gain confidence Our goal is to help you build consistency, develop your skillset, and begin establishing a steady schedule. Key Responsibilities Design individualized training programs based on client goals and movement capabilities Apply progressive overload principles safely and effectively Coach proper exercise technique with attention to detail Modify and adapt programming based on real-time client needs Work with a range of clients including general population, corrective exercise, and performance Maintain organized client records and program updates Manage sessions and scheduling using Mindbody Collaborate with other coaches and healthcare professionals when needed Contribute to a professional and team-oriented environment Who This Role Is For This role is ideal for a coach who: Is committed to developing a high level of skill over time Values precision, structure, and long-term client outcomes Wants to work in a high-quality, low-volume environment Is open to feedback, learning, and professional growth Takes ownership of client results and experience Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of personal training or coaching experience Strong foundation in exercise science, movement, and program design Ability to communicate and coach effectively with clients Willingness to learn and apply advanced coaching principles Professional, reliable, and growth-oriented
Preferred:
Certifications (NSCA, NASM, ACSM, etc.) Additional education in movement, corrective exercise, or performance Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field Position Requirements Contractor position (liability insurance required) Ability to demonstrate and coach exercises safely Comfortable working with clients with movement limitations Ability to lift 45+ pounds Reliable transportation and proximity to Pleasanton, CA Professional presence and punctuality Compensation and Schedule $40.00 - $65.00 per hour depending on experience and role Session formats include 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1 coaching Initial part-time schedule with opportunity to grow Preferred availability: Weekday early mornings and/or some evenings At least one weekend day Final Note We are building a coaching environment focused on long-term development, both for our clients and our team.
