Job Description

About Shred 27 Shred 27 is a boutique fitness studio in Rocklin, CA built around high-energy HIIT and strength training. We run large group classes, small group training, and 1-on-1 personal training — and we do all of it at a level that most gyms don't come close to matching. This isn't a plug-and-play coaching job. We have a defined culture, clear standards, and members who expect to be known by name, coached with intention, and made to feel like they belong here. If that sounds like a lot — it probably isn't the right fit. If it sounds like exactly what coaching should be, keep reading. The Role You'll lead group fitness classes — HIIT classes run 30 minutes, strength and other formats run 45-60 minutes. Every class is coached, not just led — we know our members, we modify for them, and we make every session feel personal regardless of who shows up. Depending on availability, there may also be opportunities to coach small group or 1-on-1 sessions as the studio grows. This is a part-time position. Hours vary based on the current class schedule and studio needs — we're building, and the right person will grow with us. We get it — most part-time coaches have something else going on, and that's fine. What we need is that Shred 27 hours are protected. Members plan their lives around class time, and your commitment to those hours is non-negotiable. We also leave room for coaches to bring their own interests to the floor. If there's a format you're passionate about — mobility, kettlebells, a flow-based class — and you think it fits our members, we're open to that conversation. One of our current coaches built out a flow class because it was something he genuinely loved. That kind of ownership is exactly what we're looking for. What We're Looking For You will thrive here if you: Hold yourself to a higher standard than anyone else holds you to Know members by name within the first few classes (and actually care to) Show up physically and mentally ready, every time, regardless of how your day is going Give feedback that is specific, coaching-level, and timely, not just encouragement Own your mistakes immediately and fix them without being prompted Are genuinely curious about getting better as a coach. You study, ask questions, and apply what you learn Find energy in a team that has high expectations of each other This probably isn't for you if you: Are looking for a low-stakes side gig to fill a couple mornings Need a lot of hand-holding or external motivation to perform See members as class participants rather than people you're responsible for Treat scheduling, communication, and follow-through as optional Have another job or commitment that would routinely bleed into your Shred 27 hours. When you're here, you're here Responsibilities Lead safe, effective, and high-energy group fitness classes Arrive 15 minutes early, stay until the last member leaves Greet every member by name; track new member attendance and follow up with no-shows Deliver class-specific cueing and real-time form corrections, not just motivation Complete all administrative tasks (attendance, notes, member flags) before your next shift Participate in weekly team meetings and 1-on-1 check-ins Communicate proactively. If something's off with a member, a class, or a process, say something Represent Shred 27 on and off the floor in a way you'd be proud of Qualifications Required Current personal training or group fitness certification (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ISSA, or equivalent) CPR/AED certification (current) Minimum 1 year experience coaching group fitness or personal training Demonstrable knowledge of strength training, HIIT programming, and movement mechanics Preferred Experience coaching mixed-fitness populations, particularly adult women Familiarity with InBody or other body composition assessment tools Background in or curiosity about the science behind training adaptations, nutrition, and recovery Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience and certifications. Performance bonuses tied to member retention and attendance metrics. Complimentary Shred 27 membership. Opportunity to grow hours and responsibilities as the studio scales. Our Culture We run on three core values: Acta Non Verba (we do what we say), Kaizen (we are always getting better), and Ubuntu (we rise together). These aren't posters on the wall. They're how we make decisions, hold each other accountable, and evaluate performance. We are a small, tight team. Every person carries real weight. If someone drops the ball, the members feel it. If someone raises the bar, the whole studio benefits. We hire slowly and hold ourselves to the same standards we ask of each other. How to Apply Send the following to support@shred27.
