Work Schedule:
The park office is open to the public daily, beginning at 8am on weekends and 10am on weekdays, closing at either 6pm or 8pm based on the season. The Senior Recreation Leaders will work a varied schedule (up to 28 hours per week) within park office operating hours. A Tuesday-Saturday, or Sunday-Thursday schedule is preferred.
Summary Description:
There are two (2) part-time Senior Recreation Leader vacancies for Stanton Central Park (SCP). The Senior Recreation Leaders will provide support in planning and implementing a variety of youth and teen recreation programs and will oversee facility reservations and sports field rental operations. The Senior Recreation Leaders will also assist with the daily management of park facilities and support the overall delivery of recreational services and special events for the community. Apply soon. This recruitment closes on July 1, 2026. Essential Functions The following duties are normal for this position. These are not construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Serves in a leadership capacity. Trains and coordinates the work of part-time and volunteer staff. Attends staff meetings. Assists in implementing recreation activities, including games, sports, crafts, special events, and other related activities. Coordinates the issuance, use, care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Assists in moving and setting up equipment. Assists in preparing for facility rentals, special events, programs, and other related activities including coordinating activities, moving and setting up tables, chairs and various equipment. Assists patrons with classes and registration. Maintains effective communication and harmonious relationships with the public, participants and associates. Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS
Knowledge of organizing and planning recreation activities. Modern recreational philosophies and practices as it relates to sports, special activities and play. Enjoy working with people of all ages. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Has demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities. Knowledge of facility management & procedure. Flexible and can easily adapt to changes and work schedules. Establish and maintain effective relationship with staff and other department representatives.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in providing recreation and leisure time services. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. College course work in the field of Recreation, Physical Education or related field is desired.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in a standard office environment requiring prolonged sitting, standing, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching and stooping in the performance of daily activities. May require constant walking, standing (including on concrete or uneven ground), climbing and exercising full range of motion of the arms, hands, wrists and fingers. Occasional pushing, pulling, dragging and lifting equipment and/or office items weighing 25 lbs. Ability to hear and convey detailed or important instructions or information verbally and accurately. Average visual acuity to prepare and read documents. Ability to communicate with both the public and co-workers in a clear and concise manner. Ability to travel to different sites and locations.
