The City of Tracy is excited to announce opportunities to join our dynamic Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department as a Recreation Leader I I. We're seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented individuals who are passionate about making a difference in our community through recreation programming. The Recreation Leader II helps plan and lead recreation programs and community events, assists with facility and equipment setup, and supports daily operations. Assignments may include Athletics, Facilities, Youth Services, Senior Center, or Special Events. This role also offers exciting opportunities to support Athletics and Summer Camps programming, including seasonal sports such as adult softball, youth basketball and baseball/softball programs, as well as engaging experiences like Adventure Day Camp with games, crafts, STEM activities, and social interaction. Successful candidates are flexible, team-oriented, and eager to help create positive, memorable experiences for the Tracy community. Under general supervision to conduct recreation programs and community events and assist staff in planning programs and events; set up City facilities and equipment; maintain facilities and equipment; follow oral and written instructions. Lead and conduct a variety of activities and programs at recreation facilities. Prepare and disseminate program publicity materials. Prepare and maintain reports and records of program activities. Set up and break down at City facilities and equipment; maintain facilities and equipment. Maintain inventories of program supplies and materials. Provide leadership and assistance for group recreation and community events. Attend and assist in training other recreation staff and volunteers. Enforce City, department and program rules, policies and regulations. Maintain a safe environment in the assigned area/program. Assist other City staff and members of the public. Work a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, holidays and weekends. Attend staff meetings and training. Maintain professional, courteous behavior toward co-workers, members of the public and all others contacted in the course of work. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor in area of assignment. Must be at least 16 years of age. Equivalent to one year of paid or volunteer work in an entry-level position in an organized recreation or community service program or, work in a customer service and leadership position. School related leadership participation can be substituted for some or all of the work experience. In accordance with Education Code 10911.5, employees having direct contact with minors must be fingerprinted and in accordance with Public Resources Code 5163, employees must be free of communicable tuberculosis to perform work for recreational purposes. Applicants selected must pass a physical exam, which includes drug screening and TB testing, fingerprint background check, and submit a work permit, if applicable.
