Woodmen Hills Metro District is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado, located near Peyton in the rapidly growing Falcon region just east of Colorado Springs. We are looking for a high energy spin instructors for our group fitness classes. Classes are held both morning and evening. Cycle Instructors are responsible for the safe, effective, and engaging instruction of indoor cycling classes for the Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District, Parks and Recreation Department. Instructors must operate in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws and serve as active members of the department's fitness team. Duties and Responsibilities The following reflects management's definition of essential job functions but does not restrict additional tasks as assigned. Duties may be reassigned at any time due to operational needs or reasonable accommodations. Maintain a safe and clean cycling environment by ensuring all equipment meets safety standards and is properly disinfected before and after classes. Instruct upbeat, music-driven indoor cycling classes for members and guests using proper techniques, safe training principles, and effective cueing. Demonstrate correct cycling form, bike setup, resistance use, and riding positions; ensure participants understand proper alignment and intensity levels. Prepare all class materials, including music playlists, class formats, and bike setups. Assist participants with bike adjustments and provide modifications for varying fitness levels. Maintain a positive and motivating class atmosphere that supports member engagement and retention. Communicate regularly with the Fitness Supervisor regarding attendance numbers, equipment needs, and scheduling updates. Notify the supervisor of availability changes, substitutions, and class disruptions according to department guidelines. Check and respond to business-related communication in a timely manner. Attend department meetings, mandatory trainings, and continuing education opportunities to maintain skills and certifications. Support Parks and Recreation special events as needed throughout the year. Complete incident or accident reports as required. Maintain all required certifications and trainings. Required Qualifications Certification Requirements A nationally recognized Group Fitness Instructor certification or an Indoor Cycling-specific certification (e.g., Schwinn, Spinning®, Keiser, or similar). Preferred Qualifications American Red Cross Community First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or must obtain within 3 months of employment). Previous paid experience teaching indoor cycling. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of cycling biomechanics, ride profiles, cadence, resistance principles, and heart-rate training zones. Ability to create effective, music-driven cycling classes that incorporate tempo, rhythm, coaching, and motivational strategies. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to apply and enforce department policy and safety guidelines. Sound judgment and decision-making skills. Creative, energetic, and collaborative team player. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English (primary workplace language). Physical Requirements Frequent standing, biking, walking, talking, and projecting voice over loud music. Occasional bending, kneeling, or adjusting equipment. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds (adjusting and moving bikes). Must be able to safely demonstrate cycling movements while instructing.
Compensation Full Pay Range:
$19.00•$28.00 hourly
Hiring Pay:
$19.00 hourly based on qualifications and certifications Annual performance-based raises are issued at the District's and Department's discretion. Additional Information This position is classified as non-essential . Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
Primary work location:
Recreation Center East . Must commit to instructing a minimum of 2 classes per week .
