Job Description

The Recreation Leader will be responsible for the opening, closing and complete operation of the Western Greenwich Civic Center in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor. This position is scheduled Mondays - Sundays (various) for approximately 8-15 hours per week. Basic computer skills (working knowledge of MS Office and RecTrac). Demonstrated organizational and supervision skills. Proven communication skills in order to interact with staff and general public in an effective and courteous manner. Willingness to obtain certification in CPR/AED and first aid. Responsible for the opening and closing of the office, when applicable. Responsible for directing public to various programs in site. Responsible to run different activities such as sports programs in the Gym etc. as assigned; checks-in attendees for open gym activities. Responsible to help with setup and breakdown of different programs when assigned. Responsible to communicate information to the public either through phone or in-person. Responsible to provide first aid attention when applicable. Responsible for security of the building and take corrective measures if there is a problem by calling police, or talking to the involved parties. Responsible to take applications for different programs that are happening at the center. Carries out all additional work as assigned. Acts in a professional manner that provides a safe & fun atmosphere for the community. All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate. All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position. The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations for all full and part time positions positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates. The investigation will only be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate's further consideration.
