Job Description
The Recreation Leader assists with opening and closing the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center during operating hours, as well as providing operational support based on the activities and programs occurring during their assigned shift. This position will be scheduled to work for approximately 8-15 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. High School Diploma. Demonstrated computer skills (working knowledge of MS Office and ability to quickly learn RecTrac software). Demonstrated organizational and supervision skills. Proven communication skills in order to interact with staff and general public in an effective and courteous manner. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to obtain certification in CPR/AED and first aid. Responsible for the opening and closing of the office, when applicable. Responsible for directing public to various programs on site. Responsible to oversee different activities such as sports programs in the gym, etc., as assigned; checks-in attendees for open gym activities and drop-in programs. Responsible to help with setup and breakdown of different programs when assigned. Responsible to communicate information to the public. Responsible to provide first aid attention when applicable. Responsible for security of the building and taking corrective measures - if there is a problem by calling police or talking to the involved parties. Accepts facility rental applications for the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center. Acts with professionalism as all times, in order to promote a safe and fun atmosphere for the community. Performs other related duties as needed. All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate. All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position. The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations for all full and part time positions positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates. The investigation will only be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate's further consideration.
