Job Summary:
This is a part time position responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting patrons and supporting team members in effectively carrying out activities for the City of Largo's Recreation, Parks, and Arts programs. The ideal candidate implements, plans, supervises, and participates in one or more leisure activities. Work is performed independently to achieve objectives and carry out activities in accordance with established policies and procedures. Individuals in this position receive direction from an assigned supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership Demonstrates an understanding and reflection of the City's mission, vision, and values, and a commitment to achieve organizational goals aligned with the City's strategic plan Champions a high-performance work culture that encourages and embraces new ideas, develops individuals, and welcomes and encourages diverse perspectives Articulates strategic and innovative thinking and provides clarity to deliver superior services Approaches the job with enthusiasm and curiosity to promote a solutions-oriented work culture Management Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities Follows suggested procedures to ensure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety, and risk avoidance Technical Plans and executes leisure activities such as sports, arts and crafts, drama, special events, environmental education, tours, field trips, etc., under the direction of a supervisor or lead team member; participates in teaching one or more leisure activities; may supervise a group of children, including planning activities and administering discipline in a camp situation or after-school program Opens, closes, and secures the facility and ensures all rules and regulations of the facilities are enforced; ensures all precautions are taken in maintaining participant's safety; assures the safety, welfare, and well-being of participants enrolled in programs Assists in training team members and volunteers Utilizes technology effectively to include data entry, retrieval, and processing from a variety of City and Department software Maintains communication between customers and other team members Supports the division and the department in external activities Always presents a professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service; answers and responds to customer inquiries Processes documents and applications pertaining to membership and registrations; verifies residency for membership pricing Collects activity fees and processes payments, including closing cash-outs Prepares daily activity reports Assists with the maintenance, opening, and securing of the facility and equipment; may enter service requests for facility needs and repairs May be responsible for the department's public relations by designing and updating the bulletin board and fliers as requested May check facility website information for accuracy Tracks daily facility attendance and may track financial activities Administers first aid when necessary and completes appropriate reports Set up and break down rooms for activities as appropriate Inventories and restocks supplies for facilities and programs; may complete ordering and shopping for the facility and scheduled programs within an allocated budget Participates in the maintenance of facility cleanliness May complete daily safety inspections May complete vehicle inspections and/or take vehicles for maintenance Completes annual training as scheduled Participates in project committees as assigned Team members assigned to childcare will be responsible for a group of children while following enforcement agency regulations, planning and executing activities, ensuring participants are following rules, and administering discipline as needed; administering educational testing, conducting drills, and transporting children Team members assigned to nature parks work with an environmental education focus, create and update park displays and exhibits, assist with animal care, handle wildlife for educational purposes, and perform general park maintenance Team Skills Supports honest and transparent decision-making Collaborates with all team members in a way that builds upon ideas and takes personal accountability and ownership of projects, roles, and assignments Openly exhibits a positive attitude, in words and action, and encourages others to do the same Performs related work as required.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS
As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
PART-TIME POSITIONS
Must be 16 years old on the date of application Some experience in a recreation setting or customer service preferred Certification and/or training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) first aid is required within 6 months of hire; training is provided Team Members under the age of 18 will be restricted from the following tasks: Driving any vehicle (including personal vehicles) during scheduled work hours Operating grounds maintenance tools Operating a golf cart and/or utility vehicle Cleaning of areas where they may be exposed to bodily fluids
FULL-TIME POSITIONS
Must be at least 18 years old due to Pinellas County Childcare Licensing Board requirement High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED) required Some experience in a recreation setting, customer service, or childcare programs preferred Certification in CPR and AED first aid is required within 90 days of hire; training is provided Begin License Board training requirements within 90 days and complete within one year of hire date if assisting with a licensed childcare program Staff Member in Charge Certification (SMIC) and Childcare 40 clock-hour training if assigned to a facility with a licensed childcare program, is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment:
50% inside a climate-controlled building and 50% outside, which may include driving. Depending on the assignment, work environments may vary significantly.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of the job require sitting approximately two (2) hours per day, standing approximately four (4) hours per day, and walking approximately two (2) hours per day. The work often requires bending/stooping, climbing, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 15 pounds, lifting/carrying of objects weighing 15 to 44 pounds, and lifting/carrying of objects weighing 45 pounds and over.

Hearing:
Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person and on the telephone.
Speaking:
Ability to communicate orally with others in person and on the phone.
Seeing:
Ability to see and read computer monitor screens, supervise children, and, if assigned, drive and perform tennis court and general maintenance.
Driving Requirements:
Team members under 18 are NOT permitted to drive. Staff members aged 18 years or older may occasionally drive and must possess a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
Technology:
The work requires the ability to operate telephones, smartphones, tablets, laminators, photocopiers, printers, desktop and laptop computers, calculators, handheld radios, and all associated software.
Other Tools:
Grounds maintenance tools, and may operate a golf cart and/or utility vehicle.
