This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Responsible to develop, implement, and instruct individualized fitness programs for one-on-one clients and small group personal training clients.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent customer service by exceeding member and client expectations. Engages in active listening with members to build and maintain relationships. Educates clients and members about safe practices when engaging in physical activity. Writes appropriate programs within scope of practice for exercise, nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits. Maintains up to date knowledge of fitness research, principles and trends. Supervises clients during training sessions, educates clients and supports clients in reaching their goals. Attends mandatory staff meetings and participants in training seminars Completes and stays current with Redwoods safety trainings and fitness certifications.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in event of an emergency. Daily activities include reaching, lifting, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping.QUALIFICATIONS
Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification by an NCCA accredited organization or comparable certification as approved by Health and Wellness Director. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications should be completed upon arrival or within 90 days of hire. Knowledge and understanding of safe exercise techniques, program design, and scope of practice. Exceptional customer service, verbal communication, motivational skills, and ability to connect with participants on a personal level. Understands the mission of theYMCA. 1-3
years of personal training experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred. We are looking for an experienced personal trainer to teach small group training classes on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:15-10:15 am and again 10:30-11:30 am. Ideally this personal will be available to take clients and offer fitness orientations before and after class. Proficient knowledge of biomechanics, and how it applies to weightlifting for mature adults and seniors is a must.Similar jobs in Lowell, MA
