Job Description

The Zumba Instructor is responsible for leading quality fitness programs designed to meet the needs of participants through educational and fun classes in a safe and welcoming environment, all while providing exceptional customer service.1. Leads motivating fitness classes according to the assigned schedule. 2. Instructs class to the ability level of the participants. 3. Designs and teaches choreography using music tempo, count and phrase. 4. Provides guidance in safe, proper exercise techniques and group fitness components (i.e. warm-up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down). 5. Works with participants to achieve their fitness goals and monitors participants' perceived rate of exertion. 6. Monitor and record class attendance. 7. Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants. 8. Works with other instructors to ensure all classes are fully staffed. 9. Maintains group fitness equipment and room. 10. Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent Minimum of one-year experience as a fitness instructor Active participation in Continuing Education Credits (CEC or CEU) Active Zumba Instructor license Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Current American Red Cross (ARC) CPR/AED Current First Aid Certification Knowledge of exercise physiology, kinesiology and injury prevention Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others to achieve their health/wellness goals Interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability and desire to instruct in front of an audience Ability to demonstrate all skills necessary and safe proper techniques Outgoing, energetic and able to motivate and encourage participants to attend and actively participate in class Flexible and adaptive, capable of adapting teaching style to clients of varying ages and abilities Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity Equipment Used Computer Telephone Exercise equipment (such as free weights, exercise tubing or stability balls) Mental Effort Evaluate, plan and instruct Attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices Physical Requirements Standing and movement for up to 60 min. at a time Bending, sitting, stopping, squatting, walking, and running Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs. Approximately 15-20% demonstration, 80-85% doing Ability to project voice Working Conditions Fitness equipment Indoor/Outdoor environments Repetitive Motion
