Job Description The role of the Fitness Instructor is to teach fitness classes in a group setting at the Marsh and/or Williston Center. Instructors lead participants through safe and engaging activities including muscle conditioning, cardio, water fitness, and group fitness classes such as HIIT, Bootcamp, Barre, Strength, and Tabata . The instructor will assist participants in reaching their goals, while leading them in a safe and efficient manner. Group Fitness instructors report to the Fitness Coordinator. Part-time position, hours vary based on class schedules.
Duties/Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for proper use of and general condition of the Marsh and/or Williston Center's group fitness exercise and audio equipment Secures storage and use of equipment Communicates questions relating to personal training needs to the Fitness Coordinator Assists members and other individuals with appropriate techniques and skills to partake in preferred classes Provides information and assistance to members, guests and staff regarding assigned group fitness classes
Other Job Functions:
Communicates regularly with Assistant Manager and/or Manager on a daily basis Assists as a substitute for other fitness classes, as experience and expertise allows
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Certification in areas of expertise; i.e. Les Mills (Cardio, Strength, Yoga, Cycle, Mat Pilates, TRX, Strong Zumba, Aquatics, BARRE, Silver Sneakers, etc.) Current National Group Fitness Certification required from a nationally accredited organization (i.e. NETA, AFAA, ACE, ACSM, etc) Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lbs at a time.
Current CPR Certification Desired Qualifications:
One year of experience teaching group fitness classes First aid certification
Additional Information Knowledge of:
Safe and effective teaching practices and use of all equipment Anatomy, exercise physiology, Kinesiology and injury prevention Basic knowledge of health and wellness Skilled in: Teaching a group of participants The development of safe exercise plans Ability to: Instruct others in the use of a variety of fitness equipment Learn center policies, programs, and practices
