May 28, 2026 Responsibilities What you'll do Assist with conducting and monitoring recreation programs in one or more assigned areas, following established rules, policies, and procedures to ensure safe and consistent program delivery. Open, secure, clean, and prepare program areas before and after activities to ensure spaces are safe, organized, and ready for use. Support recreation camps, sports programs, and large events by assisting participants and providing basic instruction under the guidance of a program leader. Inspect program areas and equipment and report maintenance or repair needs to help prevent safety issues and service disruptions. Maintain participation records, collect fees, and assist with equipment issuance and inventory tracking to support accurate program operations. Perform routine administrative tasks such as front desk support, phone reception, registration processing, and assistance with special events as needed. What success looks like Recreation programs run safely, smoothly, and on schedule. Program areas and equipment are clean, secure, and ready for participants. Participants and families receive friendly, helpful support. Records, registrations, and fee collections are accurate and complete. Supervisors can rely on you to follow procedures and assist where needed. What you get Hands-on experience in recreation programming and customer service. REQUIRES
At least 16 years of age. May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City. Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical. If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
