POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Health & Wellness, the Certified Personal Trainer plays a vital role in helping members achieve their health and wellness goals while creating a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment. Through personalized coaching, individual training sessions, and small group experiences, you will empower members to build confidence, develop healthy habits, and make meaningful progress on their wellness journey. More than a fitness professional, you are a relationship builder and motivator who helps members feel connected, encouraged, and valued. By fostering achievement, cultivating relationships, and creating a sense of belonging, you will help transform lives and advance the YMCA's mission of strengthening spirit, mind, and body for all.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 18 years of age Certified in Red Cross First Aid and Adult CPR/AED Current personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization (ACSM, ACE, NASM, AFAA) 2+ years of experience preferred Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and deliver personalized fitness programs and group sessions tailored to a wide range of abilities and goals Build genuine relationships—learn member names, celebrate milestones, and foster community connections Model excellent listening and communication skills to help members feel heard, valued, and supported Educate members on YMCA programs and services, guiding them to additional opportunities for engagement Maintain accurate records of client sessions and progress Participate in staff trainings and community wellness events Ensure safety and uphold Wellness Center policies at all times
