Job Description

Personal Trainer - Full-Time Career (Hourly W‑2, Benefits, Apprenticeship Path)
Location:
Stony Brook & Mount Sinai, NY (Must be able to work between both locations) Compensation Full-time hourly W‑2 role targeted at ~$50,000 / year based on a standard full-time schedule Realistic first‑year total for solid performers: $55,000-$70,000+ (hourly pay + referral bonuses + quarterly raises) Exact hourly rate and progression reviewed in the interview This is not per‑session, not contract, not "only get paid when people show up." You clock in, you clock out, and you get paid for your shift. About Redefine Fitness Redefine Fitness is a premium private training studio built for trainers who want a real career in a high cost‑of‑living area.
Most gyms:
Pay only when sessions happen Make you hustle for every client Offer no path beyond "more sessions"
At Redefine Fitness:
We provide the clients and the schedule You're paid for your time on the floor, not just butts in sessions You get weekly paid education, mentorship, and a path into leadership If you're looking for stability, structure, and growth instead of chaos, this is for you. Schedule Reality We hire into AM and PM blocks (no split shifts): AM shift: typically 5-6 AM start, done around 3-4 PM PM shift: typically 11-12 PM start, done around 7-8 PM One weekend day is required If you need strict 9-5 hours, this will not be a fit.
How You Grow & Get Paid More Baseline:
full-time hourly, targeting ~$50k / year
Referrals:
minimum expectation of 1 qualified new client referral per month You earn $100 per referral Quarterly raises: up to 2% every quarter, based strictly on performance metrics Leadership path: top performers can move into Shift Lead, starting around $67,000+ with added responsibility Raises are earned, not given. If you like clear standards and knowing exactly how to win, you'll like it here. Who Thrives Here Trainers who believe in what we do and want to build a long-term home Positive people who show up on time, every time, and want feedback Coaches who love working with adults 40-65 and can balance empathy with high standards Hungry, coachable trainers who want a career ladder, not a side hustle Apprenticeship Path (0-1 Year Experience) We do not require a certification. We require competence and work ethic. You must pass our internal knowledge exam (it is intentionally hard) If you're earlier in your career but hungry, you can enter through our apprenticeship program with on‑the‑job training (and potential college alignment) Who Should NOT Apply Anyone who is ever "casual" about being on time (lateness is a hard no here) Gossip, drama, or "too cool for the team" personalities Influencer‑first trainers who care more about content than clients People who resist coaching, structure, or standards Application Questions (Required) Why are you interested in a full-time hourly W‑2 training position instead of per‑session or independent contractor work? Describe the toughest professional feedback you've ever received and what you changed because of it. Our primary clients are adults 40-65 with high expectations. What is different about coaching this demographic compared to younger clients? Have you ever struggled with punctuality or reliability at work? What did you do to fix it? If you're serious about making fitness your career and not just your hobby, apply.
