Job Description
At My Gym Children's Fitness Center learning through play is the My Gym way. You'll be working with children ages 3 months to 10 years old, leading our engaging gymnastics-based classes, camps, and birthday parties! We also offer recreational dance classes like pre-ballet for ages 3-5 and beginning ballet/jazz combo for ages 6-9 years in our ancillary room. While having a dance background is not at all a requirement, it is a plus in case we need a dance class sub when our other teachers are on vacation. Our programs focus on movement, coordination, social skills, confidence, and teamwork in a non-competitive and safe environment. Our number one goal is to be a safe and welcoming place for kids to learn through play and many families stay enrolled for years because of that focus. Benefits/Perks
Competitive Pay:
Wages start at $20-22/hour, based on your experience and availability. Plus, tips when working birthday parties. Weekend birthday party tips average $10-40 per party.Flexible Scheduling:
Work 15-20 hours per week with the ability to have a set OR flexible schedule. Required shifts include Tuesdays 10-4pm for weekly meeting and at least 1 weekend day.Supportive Team Environment:

Receive complimentary T-shirts as part of your work attire. The rest of our uniform consists of black athletic pants and socks. Responsibilities- Lead and assist Parent & Me and Indepenent kid classes, ensuring a positive experience for all participants
- Foster a fun and welcoming atmosphere for both the kids and the grownups to encourage engagement and participation
- Prioritize the safety of children with proper spotting techniques as we teach them new skills
- Offer guidance and support throughout class to help children reach their developmental milestones
- Clean, clean, clean! We like to be known as the cleanest indoor activity in town, so we are constantly cleaning our equipment between classes. Qualifications
- Background in gymnastics, dance, musical theater, or other fitness is required.
- Prior experience teaching children in any of the above disciplines.
- Must be ready to be silly and sing and dance for a crowd of kids and grownups as part of our circle time and puppet show endings to class.
- Able to quickly memorize each weeks' curriculum such as, a cappella puppet shows, class announcements, and songs and dances that are part of circle time.
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills are a must as open communication is the key to a cohesive team and we foster community among our members by chatting with them about their kid's progress during class.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds daily.
- Capacity to stand and move for extended periods. This is a very active job! Most shifts are 6-8 hours and we're teaching or cleaning for most of it.
- Able to effectively multitask - you'll often be helping lead a portion of class while also maintaining a safe space and thinking 2 steps ahead to keep class running smoothly.
- Must enroll in Central Background Check Registry with the state of Oregon as our Preschool program is a Registered Program through the state.
