Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced and passionate Fitness Instructors who specialize in working with older adults. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our aging population. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for designing and leading engaging fitness classes tailored to the specific needs and abilities of older adults. At Aging is Cool, we understand the importance of work-life balance and recognize that flexibility is key for our Fitness Instructors. We offer flexible work hours to accommodate various schedules and commitments. As our Fitness Instructor, we expect you to be punctual and dependable, ensuring that you are consistently present for your scheduled classes and sessions. Reliability is crucial in building trust and maintaining a positive experience for our older adult participants.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement fitness classes for older adults that focus on strength, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular health. Create a safe and inclusive environment that promotes physical activity and fosters a sense of community among participants. Adapt exercises and routines to accommodate individuals with disabilities or limitations. Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to ensure proper form and technique. Motivate and encourage participants to reach their fitness goals while considering their individual abilities and limitations. Monitor and assess participants' progress, adjusting workouts and exercises as needed. Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that promotes overall well-being and encourages social interaction. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding in all interactions with participants. Maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to all safety guidelines. Stay updated on the latest trends and research in fitness for older adults.
Requirements:
Certifications in group fitness, such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA. (multiple specializations preferred) 3+ years experience working as a Fitness Instructor, preferably with older adults. Strong knowledge of exercise science, anatomy, and physiology. Ability to adapt exercises and routines for individuals with disabilities or limitations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with older adults. CPR certification.
