We're the place where you can rediscover your purpose and passion for fitness and helping others. This position requires vast experience, expertise, and knowledge in personal training activities. The incumbent is responsible for providing one-on-one and/or group personal training sessions, fitness assessments, and orientations to the center's participants. Ability to adapt services to meet changing demographical needs of center participants. Contributes to the retention of center's pass holder base through cultivating client relationships, facilitation of services, and uncompromising customer service. This is a part-time position and a flexible schedule is required.
Job duties:
Provides personal training sessions for both individuals and/or groups. Generates clientele. Designs and implements exercise programs based on clients' needs and goals. Monitors fitness areas to ensure proper and safe usage of exercise equipment. Reports any exercise equipment malfunctions or environmental risks to supervisor or other center related manager. Encourages and enforces department's policies and guidelines for using areas and equipment. Proactively addresses participant concerns or questions in a timely manner. Follows-up with clients within department's established timeline. Attends staff meetings and trainings.

  • 13025 Chinn Park Drive, Prince William, VA Eligible candidates must hold a current certification from a nationally accredited Personal Training agency and continuing education.
Additionally, strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills with effective motivation and leadership abilities are critical. Knowledge of and passion for current industry standards and trends along with an enthusiastic and positive attitude are essential.

Personal Training Certification Starting Payrate:
$25.44 Please note: the position is open until the advertisement closes with ongoing application review. The Department of Parks and Recreation conducts DMV records checks on all employees driving for work purposes and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older. Fingerprinting may be required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES NATURE OF WORK
This class is part of the Recreation Job Family. Incumbents performs routine work in connection with various recreation programs or activities. Instructors in this classification teach intermediate level fitness classes. Example; advanced personal training, yoga, pilates, boxing, youth and adult fitness classes. May provide daily upkeep and light maintenance of equipment and facility. Distinguishing Characteristics This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable code of conduct rules; providing customer services. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval. This position is responsible for organizing and conducting lesson and activity plans for assigned classes, monitoring equipment condition, and maintaining program safety.
TYPICAL CLASS RESPONSIBILITIES
(These responsibilities are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 1. Conducts aerobic, weight training, and/or other exercise classes; and ensures that patrons perform exercises in an accurate and safe manner. 2. Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public. Facilitates recreation facility tours; and maintains and updates client membership information. 3. Maintains and prepares equipment and facility and maintains related records. Coordinates exercise and class schedules, tracks class attendance, and reviews class feedback. 4. Enforces program and facility rules; provides emergency care and treatment as required. 5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work:
May require exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, and intense noises.
