Movement Athletics Morning AND Afternoon Group Fitness Instructor(s) About Movement Athletics Movement Athletics is a community-driven fitness space in the Tri-Cities dedicated to helping individuals become the strongest and healthiest versions of themselves. We specialize in calisthenics-based training that emphasizes functional movement using tools like free weights, TRX straps, and resistance bands. Our offerings include group classes, open gym access, personal training, martial arts, and wellness workshops focused on nutrition, mindset, and movement mechanics. Position Summary The Group Fitness Instructor plays a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging, and safe group fitness sessions aligned with the Movement Athletics mission, empowering individuals through movement, mindset, and community. This role combines technical coaching excellence with the enthusiasm and leadership needed to create a motivating group environment. Instructors are expected to bring positive energy, professionalism, and attention to each class, helping members achieve their goals while upholding the culture and standards of Movement Athletics.
Reports to:
Head Coach, Owner Schedule:
Monday•Friday supporting classes from 5:00AM•10:45AM; rotating Saturdays
AND / OR
Monday•Friday supporting classes from 4:00PM•8:00PM; rotating Saturdays. Average of 10-15 hrs per week.
Compensation:
$20•30 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and bilingual ability. Most new hires typically start at the midpoint rate of $25 per hour.
Employment Type:
W-2 Employee Responsibilities Training (70% of the time)
Lead:
Conduct 10-15 group fitness classes per week with consistency and energy. Demonstrate proper exercise form, scaling, and progression for all levels. Ensure safety and proper equipment use at all times. Punctuality & reliability: Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to teach.
Class presentation:
Maintain a clean, professional appearance; keep setups organized; deliver focused, engaging sessions. Greet and engage members before and after classes to foster community and retention.
Program communication:
Share relevant information about training programs and upload necessary video examples or materials.
Respectful communication:
Interact with members, peers, and leadership in a constructive, solution-oriented, and professional manner.
Attendance tracking:
Track class attendance and report participation data weekly using FitHive.
Cleanliness:
Maintain cleanliness of training areas, equipment, and storage after each session.
Reporting:
Submit weekly updates and reports to Head Coach/Owner (session logs, attendance, and any member feedback).
Flexibility:
Occasionally assist with substitute coaching or small-group training sessions as needed. Programming (20% of the time)
Engagement:
Participate in gym challenges, workshops, and community events to foster connection and overall member engagement.
Workshops:
Support the development of skill and mindset workshops to build deeper relationships, empower members through education, and continue personal and professional growth.
Community impact:
Take part in community events as a form of service alongside members, strengthening relationships, improving retention, and giving back together.
Member support:
Contribute to member retention through consistent communication, encouragement, and timely follow-up.
Collaboration:
Partner with fellow staff to enhance programming quality and continuously elevate the member experience. Operational (10% of time) Attend periodic staff meetings or professional development sessions when scheduled. Who we're looking for: Current CPR/AED certification. Certified through a recognized organization (NASM, ACE, ISSA, or equivalent). Minimum of 1 year group training or coaching experience preferred. Strong understanding of functional training, mobility, and injury prevention. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to adapt to different class formats and client ability levels. Self-motivated and professional demeanor in and out of the gym.
